The tradition of French perfume goes back many centuries.  These scents come from the worlds best.

The word perfume (French perfume) comes to use from the Latin words "Per," meaning "through," and "fumar," meaning "to smoke."  The French later gave the name "parfum" to the pleasant scents that drifted through the air from burning incense.

French perfumes are perfected by inventors who know all about the latest findings in chemistry as well as the market prices of expensive natural raw materials.  These scents are packaged with care, given top names and labeled by all the greatest fashion names.  Now sold on the shelves of large stores it's incredible how they have become so popular.  French perfume has appeal not only for women but also more and more to men, young people and even children.  This is an ever growing market.

Paris became the center of the world for French perfume.  Perfume companies such as Lubin, Roger and Gallet, and Gueriain were all based in Paris.  Chanel launched her own brand of perfume which she called Chanel No. 5 because it was the fifth fragrance produced for her by scents designer Ernest Beaux.  French perfume was at it's peak in the 1950's.  Numerous perfume houses emerges and others started blending their own scents.
